Pincel Pencil Photo Guide

Your photo is the heart of your portrait. Here is exactly what you need to ensure your artwork turns out as beautiful as you imagined.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

We know it’s not always possible to take the perfect photo.
Don’t worry. Our team reviews every image manually, and if the photo isn’t suitable, we will notify you no later than the next business day.

ESSENTIAL GUIDELINES

  1. Take the photo at your pet’s eye level.
Avoid shots taken from above or below. The gaze should be direct and clearly visible.
  2. Use natural light.
A spot near a window is ideal. Avoid flash, overly warm lighting, or harsh shadows.
  3. Make sure the face and neck are fully visible.
Ears must be completely in frame, especially if they are long or floppy.
  4. The photo must be sharp.
Motion blur, lack of focus, or digital noise will affect the quality of the portrait.
  5. Do not use filters.
Avoid effects, excessive brightness, or altered colors, as they change the true appearance of your pet.

IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT YOUR PORTRAIT

Accessories such as collars, bows, clothing, tags, or glasses are not illustrated unless you request it specifically.
Your pet’s pose in the photo will be the pose shown in the portrait. We preserve their expression just as it appears in the original image.
Colors
may be adjusted in some styles to maintain the artistic vision and

Common Mistakes in Pet Photos

  • Blurry photo of a cat where facial details are unclear — a common mistake that prevents a high-quality custom pet portrait at Pincel Pencil.

❌ The image is blurry and doesn’t allow us to see the cat’s charm or facial details.

  • Dog photographed from above with one ear cut out of the frame — an example of an angle that hides the neck and distorts natural features, not ideal for a custom portrait at Pincel Pencil.

❌ The top-down angle hides the little neck and distorts the natural shape.
❌ One ear is cut off from the frame.

  • Low-resolution photo of a rabbit where fine details are lost — a common issue that affects the final quality of a custom pet portrait at Pincel Pencil.

❌ The low resolution erases the fine details that make our little friend unique.
